# Royalty-free vocals.

You need a voice under your video, podcast or ad, and you need to know nobody will claim it later. Here is what royalty-free vocals actually cover, what to check in a licence, and where Aswati Studio fits.

**Royalty-free vocals** are vocal tracks you license once, or through a subscription, and then use in your own content without paying per view, per play or per client. **Aswati Studio** is a library of 100+ voice-only tracks, from wordless humming beds to full nasheed, licensed for monetised and commercial use including client work and ads, with no attribution required. Plans start at $9/month, and there is a [free pack of 8 tracks](https://aswati.co/vocals) with no card.

## What "royalty-free vocals" actually means

Royalty-free does not mean free of charge. It means you pay once, or pay a subscription, and the right to use the audio comes without a meter attached. No fee per stream, no cut of your ad revenue, no new invoice when a client video reaches a bigger audience. The licence is the product; the audio file is just how it arrives.

That is different from **public domain**, where nobody owns the recording at all. Genuinely public-domain vocal recordings are rare, usually old, often poorly recorded, and if anyone challenges you, proving the status is your job.

It is also different from the "free download" and copyright-free vocals sites. Many host files uploaded by people who never had the rights, or tracks already registered in Content ID under someone else's name. The download is free; the claim on your video three weeks later is not. When people search for copyright-free vocals, what they actually need is audio with a clear owner who has granted them clear rights. That is what a proper royalty-free licence gives you.

## Lyric vocals vs wordless vocals

Not every vocal track does the same job. The split that matters most to an editor is whether the voice carries words.

**Wordless vocals** (humming, sustained harmonies, soft "ooh" and "aah" layers) behave like a pad. They add warmth and movement without competing with whoever is speaking, so they belong under a voiceover, an interview, a product walkthrough or a podcast segment. If you have been searching for music without instruments that can sit under speech, this is the category you want. Our guide to [vocals-only background music](https://aswati.co/vocals-only-background-music) shows how editors place it.

**Lyric vocals**, including nasheed and full acapella pieces, carry a melody and words of their own. Under dialogue they fight the speaker, so use them where the audio is the point: an intro, a montage, a title sequence, the closing seconds of an ad. For the a cappella side in more depth, read about [Islamic acapella](https://aswati.co/islamic-acapella).

A good library gives you both, so one subscription covers the bed under your talking and the moment your edit opens up.

## What to check in any vocal licence

Before you drop any royalty-free acapella or vocal track into a project, check the licence for these six things. If a site cannot answer them clearly, treat that as your answer.

- **Commercial use.** Monetised YouTube, sponsored posts and paid ads should be covered, not just "personal projects".
- **Client work.** If you edit for other people, the licence must let you deliver the audio inside work you are paid for.
- **Platforms.** YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, podcast apps, websites and paid social should not each need separate permission.
- **Attribution.** Some free licences demand a credit in every description. Know whether you have to, before you publish.
- **Cancelling.** Find out what happens to published videos and downloaded files if you stop paying.
- **Content ID.** Ask how the tracks are handled in Content ID and what happens if a claim appears.

Aswati's answers: monetised and commercial use is included, client work and ads are included, no attribution is required, and anything you download stays licensed after you cancel. The licence is royalty-free forever. The two things you cannot do are resell or redistribute the audio itself, and register it with Content ID as your own. The full terms are on the [licence page](https://aswati.co/license), and if YouTube is your main worry, our [no-copyright nasheed guide](https://aswati.co/no-copyright-nasheed) covers claims in detail.

## What's inside Aswati Studio

[Aswati Studio](https://studio.aswati.co) is a library of 100+ tracks built from the human voice: lead vocals, layered harmonies, humming beds and full nasheed, with light daff or percussion on some tracks. Moods range from calm, reflective beds to lifted, driving pieces for montages, and new tracks drop every month.

On the Production Pass you also get every stem, so the lead, the backing vocals and the percussion arrive as separate files. Mute the lead under dialogue and keep the harmonies, or drop the percussion for a softer bed. The library runs as a web app you can install on iPhone or Android, with background playback while you browse or listen.

The voice-only sound is also the differentiator. Many Muslim creators, brands and their clients avoid instrumental music, so a vocal library gives you one licence that works for those audiences and for everyone else, with no tracks to vet one by one. For everyone else, it simply sounds more human than another stock piano loop.

## Plans compared

Two plans, one licence. The difference is how much of the library you can reach and what files you get.

| | Creator | Production Pass |
|---|---|---|
| Price | $9/month or $90/year | $19/month or $190/year |
| Library | The last 6 months of tracks | The full library |
| Downloads | 15 per month | Unlimited |
| Files | Full mixes | Full mixes plus every stem (lead, backing, percussion) |
| Licence | Royalty-free, commercial use | Royalty-free, commercial use |

Creator suits a channel or brand that publishes a few pieces a week and wants fresh tracks. Production Pass is for editors, agencies and anyone who mixes audio properly, where stems and unlimited downloads pay for themselves on the first client job.

## Frequently asked questions

### Are royalty-free vocals free?

Not usually. Royalty-free means you pay once or subscribe, then use the audio without per-play or per-view fees. Aswati Studio plans are $9/month (Creator) or $19/month (Production Pass), and there is a [free pack of 8 tracks](https://aswati.co/vocals) you can download instantly with no card.

### Can I use them in client work and ads?

Yes. The Aswati licence covers monetised and commercial use, including client work and paid ads, with no attribution required. What you cannot do is resell or redistribute the audio files themselves.

### Will I get Content ID claims?

Aswati tracks are licensed for monetised YouTube use, and the licence forbids anyone from registering the audio with Content ID as their own, which is how most claims on library music happen. Each download is licensed to your account, so if a claim ever appears you have the record to dispute it.

### Can I use them in my own song or remix and sell it?

You can use the vocals inside your own production, but you cannot resell or redistribute the audio itself, or register it with Content ID as your own. A release where the Aswati vocal is the main element gets close to that line, so check the [licence](https://aswati.co/license) before distributing a song built on it.

### What happens to downloads if I cancel?

They stay licensed. Anything you downloaded while subscribed remains covered forever, including videos you already published. You simply stop getting new downloads.
